P2C MISSION: To change the way we talk about bipolar disorder

We live in a world where bipolar disorder should be treated just like a physical illness. The words we use to describe other conditions like heart disease or diabetes don’t include the words, “crazy, psycho, nuts, wacko”… A world free of stigma and shame can exist if WE choose different words.

It’s the last prejudice we face as a nation, giving up is not an option!

Bipolar disorder (manic-depressive illness) is a neurobiological disorder that severely affects approximately 5.5 million Americans age 18 or older, or 2.6 percent of the adult population. An estimated 51% of individuals with this condition are untreated in any given year.

“On the positive side, it can manifest itself in brilliant and creative ideas but at its worst, it can be unforgiving and relentless, robbing you of all happiness and joy”

Pathways to Courage will change the dialogue by educating people about the complex issues of this illness, by providing understanding, strength, and support for victims and the people who love them. Pathways to Courage will reinforce coping skills and encourage a positive outlook not only to survive the illness but to enjoy life to the fullest.
